In the interim:

A link to the updated versions will be published on this webpage once available.

* Western Australia changes will commence by 1 October 2018 to allow for legislation to pass through that parliament.

Australia Day Picnic – you’re invited!

MEDIA RELEASE

Family day care celebrates Australia Day

8th January 2014: While millions around the country this month will be preparing to throw a few snags on the BBQ in traditional Australia Day style, the children at Excellence In Care family day care will be celebrating the national holiday with a family picnic.

And while the Australian flags will be proudly waving and the children will be munching on traditional Aussie fare, the celebrations will conclude weeks of learning about the history and cultural traditions of our great nation.

Family day care director Kimberley Diefenbach says Australia Day is an exciting time for all children no matter what their cultural background.

“The celebrations are a great way for the children and their families to celebrate what their country means to them. Children love Australia and love learning about our great nation,” Kimberley says.

“One of the important lessons they have learned is the diversity of cultures within Australia that makes our country so unique.”

Celebrations – be they national holidays, birthdays, Christmas or religious events, are a time of wonder and amazement for children.

Recognising and celebrating special events is an important part of a child’s life and contributes to their sense of belonging.

Australia Day is an important date on the events calendar at Excellence In Care family day care.

But it’s also a time to learn about the Australian culture and our culturally diverse society.

“As well as celebrating Australia’s traditions we also ensure all of the different cultures that make up our nation are included and recognised.”

To celebrate, Excellence In Care family day care is hosting a Australia Day Family Picnic on 22nd Wednesday 2014 near the water play section at Robelle Domain Parklands, look for our banner and gazebo setup, Springfield Central.

The fun-filled day is just one of the community events celebrated by family day care services around the country that recognize and are in line with the Government’s Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).

Family day care services around the country are celebrating community based events and linking them to the fundamentals of the Early Years Learning Framework.

The calendar of community events, including Australia Day, celebrates safety, childhood development, cultural diversity, and play-based learning.

Well done to everyone who donated food for our Help a family in need this festive season campaign.

Paul and office coordinator Yvonne took the food to the Foodbank in Brisbane on  Friday 20th December 2013.

It was weighed up when they arrived and we managed to donated an astonishing 512kgs! Not bad for first timers!

We are planning to make this an annual event, and next year will be bigger and better!

Thanks again to everyone who helped!

Family day care, is it the right fit for you?

Excellence In Care Family Day Care believes in putting the family back into family day care, but what does that actually mean and more importantly how does that affect you?

Our PHILOSOPHY is

All members of our ‘Family’ are committed to:

We strive to provide a safe, friendly and caring environment; this enables us to offer quality care by qualified and committed staff. Home based educators will cater for the emotional, social, personal, spiritual, creative, physical and linguistic development needs of young children and their families.

We will provide our educators with a safe, friendly, caring and supportive environment. We will cater for all of their emotional, social, personal, spiritual, creative and physical needs.

We value the role of families by encouraging a partnership to enhance the child’s belonging in our service. We acknowledge and embrace the cultural diversity of our community, where values, rights and differing perspectives are respected and understanding and empathy is encouraged. We acknowledge that cultural diversity relates to gender, ethnicity, lifestyle, customs, beliefs, backgrounds and experiences and how that shapes the way the child learns.

We strongly believe in putting ‘family’ back into family day care not just to the children, also with parents and home based educators.

We strive to lead the sector of early childhood to a new age standard.

We believe in providing and striving for excellence in care and education. We will identify areas we can improve upon and commit to continual improvement.

We will provide confidentiality and privacy at all times.

We will reflect the National Quality Standards and the Early Years Learning Framework in all aspects of our service. We value the importance and relevance of play as it enhances all areas of a child’s development.

We will work with children to help them understand that they are global citizens with shared responsibilities to the environment and humanity. We will commit to and support a sustainable future using the principle of reduce, reuse and recycle.

We will collaborate with educators, families, the community and related support services to enrich children’s lives and support learning.

We aim to develop quality learning experiences and opportunities enabling the child to grown and learn as they explore their own interests and strengths.
