Family day care celebrates Australia Day
8th January 2014: While millions around the country this month will be preparing to throw a few snags on the BBQ in traditional Australia Day style, the children at Excellence In Care family day care will be celebrating the national holiday with a family picnic.
And while the Australian flags will be proudly waving and the children will be munching on traditional Aussie fare, the celebrations will conclude weeks of learning about the history and cultural traditions of our great nation.
Family day care director Kimberley Diefenbach says Australia Day is an exciting time for all children no matter what their cultural background.
“The celebrations are a great way for the children and their families to celebrate what their country means to them. Children love Australia and love learning about our great nation,” Kimberley says.
“One of the important lessons they have learned is the diversity of cultures within Australia that makes our country so unique.”
Celebrations – be they national holidays, birthdays, Christmas or religious events, are a time of wonder and amazement for children.
Recognising and celebrating special events is an important part of a child’s life and contributes to their sense of belonging.
Australia Day is an important date on the events calendar at Excellence In Care family day care.
But it’s also a time to learn about the Australian culture and our culturally diverse society.
“As well as celebrating Australia’s traditions we also ensure all of the different cultures that make up our nation are included and recognised.”
To celebrate, Excellence In Care family day care is hosting a Australia Day Family Picnic on 22nd Wednesday 2014 near the water play section at Robelle Domain Parklands, look for our banner and gazebo setup, Springfield Central.
The fun-filled day is just one of the community events celebrated by family day care services around the country that recognize and are in line with the Government’s Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF).
Family day care services around the country are celebrating community based events and linking them to the fundamentals of the Early Years Learning Framework.
The calendar of community events, including Australia Day, celebrates safety, childhood development, cultural diversity, and play-based learning.
